Review: Drybar Products

(All products mentioned in this post were purchased by me; I have no affiliation with any of the brands mentioned.)

I love the thought of being able to do my own blowout; luscious, volumized locks, all smooth and shiny but sadly I've never been able to reproduce anything close to a salon blowout on my own.  I've never been to a drybar but I was extremely intrigued when I saw some of their offerings being sold on the Sephora site.  I'm pretty picky when it comes to hair products so I thought it a safer bet to purchase some of their other offerings to try out first, in this case it was their Morning After Shower Cap and their Hold Me Hair Clips.

Before I go into my review here is a little background on my hair type and how I normally take care of it:  first of all I have extremely thick, wavy and slightly coarse color processed, medium lengthed hair.  I also have long layers and side swept bangs; I normally have my hair thinned out as well because that is the only way I can manage to style it, otherwise I'm solely relegated to messy ponytails and buns. I wash my hair two to three times a week, most often using sulfate free shampoo's (my favorites are from the L'Oreal Ever lines) and rich conditioners (I adore the Suave Keratin conditioner and the Pantene Moisture Whip conditioner), once a week I use Clear Scalp and Hair Therapy Nourishing shampoo to get my hair really clean.  I also use conditioning masks once a week, such as the L'Oreal Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm which I've been really loving.

Now on to the reviews:  first one up is the Morning After Shower Cap.  As you've read previously I don't wash my hair everyday but I do take showers everyday and the only way to preserve my hair style is to wear a shower cap.  All of the previous shower caps I've used were your standard shower curtain resembling caps but the Drybar cap is a bit different and that difference is what makes this cap effective.  Instead of just the regular plasticky (is that even a real word?) material of all other shower caps, the Drybar Morning After Shower Cap has the added benefit of a terry cloth interior which helps to prevent humidity from seeping into the shower cap and ruining your hair.  I was a bit skeptical at first but having used this quite a few times over the past three weeks I have to say I'm loving the results! My hair stays as smooth and as frizz free as before my shower, I don't think  I can go back to using standard shower caps after using this one!

Next up are the Drybar Hold Me Hair Clips which come in a pack of four.  I thought that these were a particular necessity for me because the only way I can blow dry my hair is to section it off and my previous method involved butterfly clips which are effective but can also make my head sore since you need a certain amount of hair in order to prevent a pulling feeling.  These Hold Me Hair Clips are perfect because I'm able to put as little or as much hair (within reason) in a clip without hurting my head.

Overall, these two Drybar products are great and I'm happy that I went ahead and purchased them.  They can be found on the Sephora site (which is where I bought them) as well as on QVC, although they only have the hair dryer and clips in a set for purchase.  I'm looking forward to trying some of their other products in the near future, especially their brushes!
