Review: Essence Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

Those of us who enjoy using long wearing products know how difficult it is to find a makeup remover that we like that adequately removes all traces of waterproof mascara, eyeshadow and liner. Thankfully, I've found removers that I feel perform well for my purposes but that doesn't stop me from searching for other's, you know, just in case something better exists :) Essence Waterproof Makeup Remover is a biphase solution (meaning it has to be shaken before use) that claims to remove waterproof eye makeup and in my experience of testing it, the claim is both true and false.

Summer Hair Care: Conditioning

My hair is definitely not one of my most favorite features, it's long, thick, wavy and coarse. The only way to manage it is to heat style so I'm never able to just "wash and go" which can be inconvenient at times. My hair is color treated and because a few white hairs are already popping up I don't think I'll be able to ever go without coloring it in the future. Anyhow, this Summer Hair Care segment will be focusing on different aspects of my summer hair care routine starting off with conditioning.

May 2013 Ipsy/MyGlam Bag

I know it's not May anymore but I still thought it was worth showing what I received in my May Ipsy/MyGlam bag just in case some of you were considering purchasing a subscription. I've been subscribing to Ipsy/MyGlam since January of 2012 and I must say that I think it's absolutely worth the $10 price, if not more. I haven't been disappointed with a bag yet and I seriously doubt I ever will; I love knowing that sometime during the end of the month (my address takes much longer than others) I will be receiving an adorable makeup bag full of goodies! This months bag was wonderful, it had pieces from brands that I already love (like St. Tropez and Zoya) and others that I'm not as familiar with (Macadamia Natural Oil, Yaby and Juice Beauty); all in all it was a good mix. Additionally, the bag itself is so cute and since I'm obsessed with small makeup bags I will definitely be putting it to good use, just like all the others:)

The No Makeup Look: A Natural Cheek

In honor of Summer I put together a series featuring my version and thoughts about the no makeup look, entitled "The No Makeup Look," of course :) This post will be the first installment and its focus, you guessed it, is on the natural cheek. Now, the whole natural cheek look depends on your particular skin tone, for example, I am light to light-medium in complexion with a yellow undertone and some splotchy, red areas on my cheek, around my nose and on my chin. In order for my skin to appear to have a healthy flush when I'm wearing minimal makeup I choose to use a cream formula that isn't too bright, too pink and is shimmer free. The following products are the colors that work for my skin tone (for reference: MAC NC20) and I decided to include a powder formula as well because I do use that on days when I can't bother blending out a cream :) All these colors are a nudey, fleshy pink and are shimmer free:
NYX Stick Blush in 05 Tea Rose
Tarte Amazonian Clay Powder Blush in Exposed
Stila Convertible Color in 3 Peony
